Every
thought you have produces a body reaction in every living
cell in your body from the tips of your toes to the top of
your head. When I have people come to me for counseling, I
demonstrate this through the use of some sophisticated biofeedback
equipment. They are connected to the equipment through sensors,
which monitor the biochemical changes in their skin cells.
These changes are charted on a
monitor, so they can instantly see the changing cell reactions
to their changing thoughts. They then gain conscious awareness
of the feelings and sensations in the body that correspond
to those changes. For instance, if they were to think of someone
who they disliked, there would be an instantaneous body reaction.
This demonstrates two very important
dynamics, that the body is constantly and instantly reacting
to your thoughts and that it reacts to all thought whether
it is based on reality or your imagination! The person their
body was reacting to was not present, they were just thinking
of them.
So your body is an obedient servant
to your mind, reacting with the emotional intensity that you
associate with the thought. Pleasant thoughts produce pleasant
feelings and unpleasant thoughts produce unpleasant feelings.
