EMOTION IS WHAT ENERGIZES THE THOUGHT

A person who has the snakes or spiders as pets associates feeling good with them, while another person might feel fear. These people both can picture a spider or snake in their mind, the difference is the emotion they associate with thought. The emotion is what energizes the thought and motivates you into action. The type of emotion you associate with the thought determines the type of action or response.

If you were visiting one of these people who had a snake for a pet and they were encouraging you to have a look at it or touch it. You could respond with fear or interest, your actions could be to do everything you could to avoid any contact or to be keen to feel and touch it.

The response you have to the snake has probably been determined by your childhood experiences. Through simple conditioning, your subconscious mind has been taught to associate particular emotions with a thought. You have the ability to change that conditioned response, like the woman who had the nightmares of the giant spider chasing her.

Uncontrolled emotional responses can waste enormous amounts of your personal energy resources. One of the secrets of Positive Thinking is to learn to use your energy wisely and efficiently by learning to have control and focus your emotional energy onto what you want.
